Fanático de la obra de Anne Rice, el productor e instrumentista Darren Hayes tomó de una de las obras de la escritora el nombre de la formación australiana Savage Garden, formada por el propio Hayes y Daniel Jones. Constituida en la década de los noventa, su primer álbum alcanzó tal éxito que generó un rápido interés entre las compañías discográficas norteamericanas.
De este primer disco extraemos el que ha sido el tema más popular de esta formación, y con el que consiguieron entrar directamente en el número uno de las listas de éxitos en países como Australia, Canada y Estados Unidos. Compuesto por los propios Darren Hayes y Daniel Jones, Truly, Madly, Deeply se convirtió en el tema principal de la película Con los ojos del corazón, protagonizada por Jude Law y Mol Gretchen.
